Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee
To commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee year 2022, trees are to be planted across the world. Berry Riding Club was successful in applying to be part of this project, for much needed shade trees to be planted in 2022 and 2023.
August 2022 saw the completion of Stage 1, of our Shade Trees project. This project is jointly funded through Berry Riding Club and the Australian Government’s Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program.
Seventeen healthy, three metre tall, deciduous trees were bought from Berry Wholesale Nursery. A great team of volunteers worked like a well-oiled machine, drilling, preparing holes, planting, mulching, and watering. Special thanks go to Berry Rotarians, Horst Blenel and Grahame Sweeney, also volunteering were Robert Banning, Clare Murray, Judy Sweeney and Sue Litster. Thank you all for making an enormous task achievable in just a few hours. Being winter, it was perfect timing to get the trees settled in and ready for spring. A commemorative plaque will identify these trees as part and the Australian Government’s Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program.
Stage 2 of the project will take place in 2023 at a similar time, when further tree stock is available.
