What was your New Years Resolution? For Berry Riding Club it unnamedwas to have our new temporary grounds ready for occupancy so that we can abandon the gypsy lifestyle and hold events at a place we can start to call home. The good news is….mission accomplished! It won’t be perfect but our temporary grounds located on a portion of the new Equestrian Centre at Schofields Lane Berry, will be useable with basic facilities which will mean business almost as usual in 2016. The calendar will soon be filling with dressage, jumping, the ever popular skills development days and GG’s. (A sociable weekly get together for members who like to ride in good company and share coffee and a cake or two). Shortly our Working Equitation group will also be back up and running. For those interested there are some inspirational short videos highlighting Working Equitation on Youtube. Be aware though that when starting out you are not required to demonstrate the speed or skill of the masters of the sport.

We have previously mentioned the necessity for horse riders to be good ambassadors and to be mindful of the rights of others. Local riders highly enjoy riding along the appropriate designated areas of Seven Mile Beach and have worked hard to maintain beach access for riders. We are very mindful of the important nesting sites for endangered sea birds and appreciate the efforts of the members of the public who work to protect the Little Tern and the Pied Oyster Catchers.

One of the reasons many of us like to trail ride is to enjoy the beauty of the Australian Bush. We are very fortunate to have access to a beach for riding and that this will only continue if horse     riders prove to be responsible and respectful. We ask that if you’re not sure where to ride ask; and please obey the signs.
