CEO Update: February 2023

It’s great to see the 2023 events in full swing again for the equestrian community. During February we moved closer to providing the structure recommendations with models being mapped and shared for input. We commenced some critical strategic projects incuding the research and planning for the digital IT projects. There was lots of activity for High Performance including the FEI Endurance World Championships, Leadership changes and Paralympics Australia sharing their Brisbane 2032 strategy.

FEI Elections & Appointments Process 2023 gets Underway

The process for candidatures for FEI Elections and Appointments 2023 is now officially open!

There are 26 positions open to candidacies including Chairpersons for Driving, Regional Group III and Regional Group VII, FEI Tribunal, as well as open positions for Members of the following committees: Audit & Compliance,  Nominations, Veterinary, Medical, Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Driving, Vaulting and Para-Equestrian.

Australian Jumping Championships come to Sydney in 2023

Equestrian Australia (EA) is pleased to announce that Waratah Showjumping Inc has been selected to host the 2023 Australian Jumping Championships (AJC).

The event will be held at Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) from 31 October to 5 November 2023. After 11 years, the AJC moves from Victoria to NSW and it will be the first time the Championships are held at SIEC.

FEI Vet Regulations for FEI events require you to take the horse’s temperature in the 3 days prior to an FEI event and during.

Changes to Equestrian Australia’s (EA) High Performance Leadership

With the focus for 2023 on key high performance outcomes to ensure qualification for the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, EA has made some changes in the High Performance leadership, to optimise the team’s success now, and into the future.

FEI Endurance World Championships

The Australian Team did us proud at the FEI Endurance World Championships in Butheeb (UAE) on Saturday, February 25 2023.

Congratulations to Jodie Salinas and Baroud Rio who came home in 5th Place with Andrea Laws-King and Heathfield’s Bin Sadaqa finishing in 31st Position.

Well done to Jodie, Andrea and the entire Australian Team.

An Incredible 10th FEI Driving World Cup gold for Boyd in Bordeaux

From the moment he began his bid to win a record 10th World Cup title in Lyon (FRA) last October, Boyd Exell (AUS) was ultimately focussed on the final in Bordeaux (FRA).  It was that singular, steely vision that served him so well and saw him crowned champion once again.  As the only driver to have three clear rounds over the two competitions, Boyd finished on his times and a total of 239.37.

Australian Team finishes Top 5 at Nations Cup

The CDIO3* Nations Cup Competition at @adequanglobaldressagefest took place in Wellington, USA over the weekend.

Australia was one of six Nations to take part and was made up of Hope Beerling riding Uno Elando, Jemma Heran riding Total Recall and Sally Lofting riding Quilan CF. Catherine Haddad Staller was Chef d’Equipe for the event.

The Australian Team finished the competition in fifth place

February Coach of the Month – Karen Crommelin

Congratulations to our February Coach of the Month, Karen Crommelin. In 1999 Karen became accredited as an EA Level 1 (non jumping) coach. She has been actively coaching since that time. In 2009 she completed her EA Level 2 (dressage specialist) coach accreditation and in 2014 became a coach educator.
