National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and will be held on 15 – 21 May 2023 and this year, the theme is The Change Makers.

Vale Art Uytendaal

Equestrian Australia was saddened to hear the news of Australian Equestrian, Art Uytendaal passing away recently, aged 92.

In the 1960’s Art Uytendaal was Australia’s only full-time professional showjumper. Affectionately referred to as ‘The Flying Dutchman’, Uytendaal was born in Holland in 1931 and immigrated to Australia in January 1956.

Reminder Horse Temperatures

FEI Vet Regulations for FEI events require you to take the horse’s temperature in the 3 days prior to an FEI event and during.

Adelaide Equestrian Festival

Adelaide, Australia – The Adelaide Equestrian Festival is elated to announce the results of the 3-day Adelaide Equestrian Festival competition, held in front of a record crowd celebrates Olympian Shane Rose winning the Adelaide International 5-star competition, Shenae Lowings taking out the RM Williams 4-star competition, and Oliver Barrett winning the Racing SA 3 Star competition.

Countdown: 500 days to Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

The road to the Para Dressage arena of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games is now just 500 days long.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which will run from 28 August to 8 September, will see the Para Dressage competition take place at the iconic Château de Versailles from 3 to 7 September, with 78 athlete and horse combinations from around the world eligible to compete for 33 medals awarded across the Team, Individual and Freestyle Events.

Success again for Boyd Exell

Congratulations to Boyd Exell and his phenomenal team of horses on their winning performance at Narodni Hrebcin (CZE), marking the start of their outdoor FEI Driving Season

Boyd also competed a brand new team of four who finished in 7th.

Expressions of Interest Open for FEI Endurance World Championships – Young Riders and Juniors

Equestrian Australia is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for athletes wishing to be considered for Australian Team Selection for the FEI Endurance World Championships for Young Riders and Juniors to be held 02 September 2023 in Castelsagrat, France.

April Coach of the Month – Jamie Smith, TAS

Each month we recognise and celebrate one of the amazing coaches in our Equestrian community.

This April, we look to Tasmania, where Dressage Coach, Jamie Smith recieves the Coach of the Month Award.

Jamie’s coaching journey stemmed from a non-horsey background and made it a rewarding career. You can read the interview full here.

Coaching: 24 Coaches Registered for Level 3 Performance Coach Course

Investing in the development of our sport’s coaches is key to the future success.

It has been several years since a Level 3 Course has been delivered, so with 24 coaches registered for the upcoming18-month course, we see this a major positive for our sport.

EA Statement: Changes to EA Coaching Committee Structure

As part of the Nationally Aligned Strategy & Structure Review, the decision was made to pause and reassess the National EA Coaching Committee structure in its current form. This decision reflects the Board’s appreciation of the pivotal role played by coaches in our sport and a commitment to prioritise coaching within the broader all-of-sport review.

This does not affect current coaching operations with full support and servicing on hand  from the state-level Coaching Committees, State Branches and EA team.
