From the CEO
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to update you on our preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as provide an update on key projects.
Message from the Board
In the lead up to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, it is exciting to confirm that our athletes have secured team places in all four Olympic and Paralympic disciplines – Dressage, Jumping, Eventing and Para Dressage.
Willinga CPEDI a great success
Willinga Park hosted the first CPEDI for the year and there was some brilliant competition across all grades with 10 combinations achieving their MER that weekend alone.
Kate Kyros wins U25 Nations Cup in Florida
Congratulations to Kate Kyros who took out first place in the FEI Nations Cup CDIO-U25 Grand Prix Freestyle at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida on the last weekend of February.
Coach of the Month
David Finch
Queensland Jumping specialist David Finch has earned widespread respect for his knowledge and commitment to equestrian sport and we are delighted to announce that David is our Coach of the Month for February.
‘Dressage by the Sea’ CDI
The spectacular ‘Dressage by the Sea’ event certainly didn’t disappoint this year with a record number of entries. Congratulations to the winners and Placegetters across the four days.
FEI Campus
Even though we are coming to the end of our warmest days, this collection of eight animated episodes covering topics for competing safely in hot and humid climates is well worth viewing on the FEI Campus.
EOI Australasia Regional Endurance Championship 2024
Equestrian Australia (EA) is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for athletes wishing to be considered for Australian Team Selection for the Australasia Regional Endurance Championship 2024.
Navigators/Backsteppers
The EA Driving Committee has commenced the implementation of a Navigator/Backstepper Certification. Thank you to those who have engaged with the Driving Navigator/Backstepper Resource and congratulations to those who have completed their Certificate 1
Competing at FEI level
If you are planning to compete at FEI level in 2024 there are a number of things that need to be in place, including current FEI Athlete and Horse Registrations and Horse Passports and FEI Recognition Cards (where appropriate). Lead times apply.
Virtus at Willinga Park
Equestrian Australia Para High Performance Lead Nick Hunter has included Virtus classes at the 3 CPEDI Paralymic Games Selection Events in 2024. The first event at Willinga Park saw 6 Virtus athletes compete.
Incident Reporting
EA’s incident report Form 08 is mandatory to report all incidents, that occur at an EA affiliated equestrian activity and must be completed within 24hrs. Find more information and fact sheets at the link below

FEI Officials 2024 – Competency-Based Evaluation System
As of 18 December 2023, the 2024 FEI CES Assessments will be accessible.
To officiate at events taking place after 31 March 2024, Officials must have passed the CES Assessment.
